Michael Stober supports "Stop-Ecocide-Movement"
Take action now: As first German CEO Michael Stober supports the stop-ecocide-movement and calls other companies to join and take part.
Groß Behnitz, February 19, 2025 – Environmental and climate protection concern us all – including businesses.
Michael Stober, CEO of Landgut Stober, advocates for companies to take an active role and responsibility in protecting the environment. As the first German entrepreneur to support the Stop Ecocide movement, he has signed the open letter to governments worldwide. With this step, he sets an example for a sustainable economy and fair competition.
"Those who act against nature act against humanity. The enormous profits of a few come at devastating costs to nature and people. Let’s criminalize ecocide and protect both humanity and the planet," says Michael Stober.
Ecocide – A Crime Without Punishment?
Every day, forests are cleared, oceans polluted, and entire ecosystems destroyed. These massive environmental damages are referred to as ecocide – yet, there is no international law that consistently prosecutes such crimes.
The Stop Ecocide movement was founded by British environmental lawyer Polly Higgins (1968–2019). Its goal: to recognize ecocide as an international crime, just like war crimes or crimes against humanity. Today, the organization Stop Ecocide International is driving this change globally, gaining increasing support from politics, science, and business.
By signing the open letter, Michael Stober joins other leading entrepreneurs and financial institutions in urging governments to take action.
Sustainable Business Strengthens Companies and Society
A healthy environment is the foundation for long-term economic success. Companies that take responsibility today not only contribute to climate protection but also strengthen their own future viability. Sustainability means innovation, risk minimization, and stability – for businesses, markets, and society as a whole.
An International Ecocide Law Would:
- Secure the future – Protect ecosystems and livelihoods
- Create clear regulations – Promote responsibility and sustainability
- Strengthen the economy – Drive sustainable investments and innovation
Michael Stober is taking a stand and calls on other entrepreneurs to join the movement. The future is decided now. Will you be part of it?
