At the end of the 19th century, Albert Borsig, son of the Berlin steel entrepreneur and locomotive builder August Borsig, had already set up a model agricultural farm on the site 30 kilometers west of Berlin.
After years of decline, the investor Michael Stober revived the red brick buildings come out of their slumber. With the help of Triodos Bank, the old lodging house was turned into a guest house in 2011, which, together with an extension completed in 2012, now includes 105 double rooms and 25 suites.
When converting the Stober estate, ecological aspects were in the foreground: a photovoltaic system ensures this Electricity, the toilets are flushed with rainwater, and a wood chip heater provides heat. Sustainability also plays a major role in the kitchen: the ingredients mainly come from the region and from organic farms.
