Hansel and Gretel at Landgut Stober - operatic magic with the Havelland Music Festival

On the first Advent, 01.12.2024, Landgut Stober invites you to a very special Advent programme for the whole family: The opera production of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ based on Engelbert Humperdinck will be performed as part of the Havelländische Musikfestspiele's ‘Anchor Points’ series. The performance will be presented by the renowned Wanderoper Brandenburg, which has been entrusted with the task of firmly re-establishing opera and music theatre in Brandenburg since it was founded in 2011. It has already celebrated great success with its child-orientated but cross-generational productions.

The artistic direction is in the hands of Arnold Schrem, director, university lecturer and founder of the travelling opera. He is supported by his wife, Elke Eckardt-Schrem, who designed the costumes with great attention to detail, as well as the composer and conductor Bernd Wefelmeyer, who is responsible for the musical direction. Together, they bring the well-known fairy tale to life through Humperdinck's music and offer an operatic experience that touches the soul and opens the mind.

As a sign of recognition for its cultural education efforts, the travelling opera was honoured in 2012 as a ‘Selected Landmark’ in the ‘365 Landmarks in Germany - Land of Ideas’ competition under the patronage of the Federal President. The performance is organised in cooperation with the Förderverein Kirche Groß Behnitz e.V. - a cultural highlight that will enchant young and old alike.
